Important Notice: Dog Flu Outbreak in the Richmond Area

Dear Valued Customers,

 

We want to inform you about a recent dog flu outbreak in the Richmond area. Several cases of dog flu have been reported, leading to the temporary closure of affected businesses, including local animal shelters and boarding facilities.

 

To ensure the health and safety of all our boarding guests, we kindly request your cooperation in the following preventive measures:

 

1. Pre-boarding Considerations:

   - Please consult your veterinarian for flu treatment protocols if your dog becomes symptomatic before boarding.

   - If your dog has recently contracted and recovered from the dog flu, please ensure that your dog has been quarantined at least 21 days before boarding with us. (Per AKC guidelines)

   - We ask that you refrain from taking them to crowded public dog areas for at least 2-3 weeks before bringing them to our facility.

 

2. Emergency Contact and Backup Plan:

   - It is essential for every dog owner to provide an emergency contact with their veterinarian.

   - In the event that a dog becomes symptomatic while boarding, they need to be promptly taken from the property within 24 hours.

   - If necessary, we can assist with transportation to your vet. However, please ensure you have a backup plan in place so that your dog can be removed from the property or taken to their personal veterinarian.

 

We prioritize the well-being of all the dogs in our care, and these measures will help us mitigate the risk of spreading the flu within our facility.

 

Rest assured, we maintain rigorous cleaning and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe environment for your beloved pets. Our staff is trained to recognize the early signs of illness and will provide immediate attention if any concerns arise.
